i was tagged awhile ago by the lovely @duranarchy-in-the-uk to list my top 7 albums ~ here’s the link!!

the albums that i have chosen had been close to me over this last year and the start of 2021!! for this i wanted to do a theme based on their album aesthetics~ but each of them had a significant role in my life towards the end of last year (a real mess of a list in no particular order):

✦ self-titled by humble pie
this album is an interesting combination of folk / songwriting and heavy rock. There’s a glorious balance of frampton’s compositions and steve’s tunes!! i adore the pie so much!! top songs: live with me, one-eyed trouse snake rumba,  red light mama red hot!, theme from skint 

✦ starfish by the church
i had discovered them around early june last year, and i love their role in the ‘new wave’ 80s era. top songs: reptile, hotel womb, destination, under the milky way  

✦ ultraviolence by lana del rey
i’ve owned this album since it first was released, but loved to relisten to it at the start of this year!! it always has been a moody album but with a darker undertone of sexy groupie vibes. top songs: brooklyn baby, sad girl, ultraviolence, guns and roses,   

✦ notorious by duran duran  
fnally brought a duran vinyl last year & it was this one!! this duran era has always been a favourite with more of a orchestral sound and trumpets!! it also contains a lot of my fave duran songs!! top tracks: skin trade, a matter of feeling, notorious 

✦ lost souls by doves
i brought this album after hearing a few of their other songs and loved this album’s experimental sound!! it needs another listen

✦ self-titled by the ramones
these boys saved me last year!! i went through a bit of a rough patch mid-year and their four-chord energetic songs got me through!! also!! lots of german influences by dee’s childhood. bless dee dee for introducing my rock god ‘marriott’ to me after reading his book!! it felt that it was meant to happen and i didn’t expect that steve would eventually become such a big part of my life. top tracks: beat on the brat, blitzkrieg bop, 53rd & 3rd, today your love tomorrow the world

✦ performance: rockin the fillmore by humble pie
god almighty, this is an album right here!! i’ll always love the long live recordings of electric guitar and marriott’s cheeky talks / stories that he inserts into a particular songs. this is one spectacular live album!! please listen to it as a whole and be mindfucked.
